What inspires you and helps you create such beautiful interiors?
Nature inspires always… we always get back so much more than we expect, and it is the purest portal to inner peace.
You are known for your classical contemporary spaces – what draws you to create this look with such pizzaz and confidence?
Why thank you, we love the spaces we create, our interpretation of the client’s brief is paramount in ensuring that we provide a successful project outcome.
What interior that you have created has left you with a lasting impact?
We undertook a heritage project, this 200+ year old building presented unending challenges and many of the original plans and ideas were amended during the restoration process. Creative solutions approved by the Heritage Committee has resulted in one of the most rewarding project hand overs in this sector for Black Pearl Project Management Pty Ltd.
Which interior designers have influenced your interior style?
Our new internal head designer Marilee Muller joined us early this year, we are enchanted by her fresh clean approach to design, along with the structured influence of our Candidate Architect and designer Jason Miller, his combination and confident use of varied materials, allows for creative boundaries to be extended on finishes and exclusive furnishing items. We love the dynamics and mix of these creative minds.
What is your personal style preference?
This is an ever changing and developing look, we are attracted to the global movement towards green living and the way that this influences our lifestyles. Staying current and participating in international design indaba’s provides the platforms that keeps our thinking new and innovative. The Italian landscape specifically that of Tuscany embraces classical architecture with an ornate flare, saturated with rustic tones and warm appeal, this style somehow always sneaks into our work along the way.
What have been your career highlights?
Launching our business in 2019 pre the global pandemic was an exciting and daunting project that we completely through ourselves into, the outcome has been beyond our wildest expectations, and we enjoy every single project as the next and next highlight.
What do you define as ultimate luxury?
The combined creative use of luxurious materials like marble, warm solid timbers and glass provides a new level of luxury to interiors. The use of velvets and textured linens softens and warms the outcome of the spaces we inhabit.
Tell us more about the latest interiors project that you have recently completed?
We had the privilege of working with a Swedish investor who invested in a prominent penthouse apartment that’s dated interiors required an entire refurbishment, the brief was very specific, and the clients’ expectations were world class. Local artisans delivered beyond expectation and an extraordinary look and feel was delivered.

Our favourite thing to buy for my home is…. We quibbled about this one…… flowers, art, chocolates, I love my electric blanket…
The easiest effective design technique is….. trust yourself, add contrast, depth, texture, don’t be scared of colour and always ensure adequate lighting has been accounted for.
Our biggest design mistakes are… We always recommend that access points are accounted for when designing custom furnishing or art pieces.
